How We Teach & Support

It's the little things we do to support an individualised learning program that get us the big results

How we teach and support

At Holy Trinity, we are dedicated to the detail and we want to ensure every child achieves to their own potential.

This means ensuring we have a robust system of teaching and support that not only caters to the average (or middle student) – but also the advanced student or the student that need some extra support.

For learning to take place we need to ensure that every child feels safe, happy and confident within themselves – and so a huge emphasis is placed on a strong wellbeing and support program that achieves just that!

T.O.R.C.H. Values

We are committed to educating the whole person to their individual potential and we invest heavily in teaching our children the core ‘TORCH’ values which underpin our school-based Values and Social Skills Program: Tolerance, Optimism, Respect, Confidence and Honesty.

Extra Needs Learners

We provide a range of different programs to support all our students including those with additional needs.  Please contact us for further information about any of these programs.

Student Leadership

Holy Trinity has a strong focus on providing opportunities for student leadership. We believe that it provides children with the chance to develop their communication and decision making skills as well as providing them with essential skills for the future.

Each year a student is selected from each class to represent them in our SRC (Student Representative Council) which regularly meets with our deputy principal to discuss and make decisions about our school.

Every year six student is selected into a leadership team that work together with our teachers to provide additional learning opportunities outside of school. Some examples of this include our environmental leaders helping to run our gardening club and our digitech leaders helping to organise our minecraft club.

Buddy Program

Holy Trinity participate in the Better Buddy program aimed at supporting Prep students as they transition into school life. All Prep students have a year six buddy who looks out for them throughout their first year of school.

Kinder to Prep Transition

Each term we offer a Kinder Kids reading session where any children who do not yet attend school can come to read and share some time with a Holy Trinity student. These sessions are aimed at introducing kinder children to what life is like at Holy Trinity.

We offer an information session from families  who want to learn about what we offer at Holy Trinity early on in the year as well as a more detailed information session for families once your child has enroled and been accepted.

Our new prep students will participate in three transition mornings in term 4 prior to beginning his/her first year of school. This includes meeting his/her new classroom teacher, being introduced to his/her year six buddy and participating in a variety of familiarising activites.

Please contact us for further information about how we can support your child with his/her transition into Holy Trinity.

Moving Schools

Come for a tour through our school and see that programs we have on offer. You will have the chance to ask questions and discuss your child, including any issues or concerns you may have.

Friendship Groups

Our Friendship Groups Program has been running since 2003. There are 16 Friendship groups, each with approximately 18 students from Prep to Year Six. Prep students and their Year Six Buddies are placed together in the same group.

Teachers meet with their group every fortnight for a session that typically involves a game and an activity based on a social skill and the TORCH value of current focus.

Through their participation and interaction with other students across the levels, children are taught strategies to help build resilience and equip them with social competencies that will assist them to become full and active members of the community. The program encompasses a common language and a set of shared values that are promoted and developed throughout the school, in classrooms, on the playground and in family life. Through this program students learn the meaning of our key values of Tolerance, Optimism, Respect, Confidence and Honesty, and how to apply these values in their lives.
